BIMI

BIMI (Brand Indicators for Message Identification)

What it is

BIMI lets a verified brand logo appear next to emails in supporting inboxes (Gmail, Yahoo, Apple Mail). Requires DMARC enforcement (not p=none) plus a verified logo record, often a VMC (Verified Mark Certificate).

Why it matters

Visual brand trust in the inbox directly affects open rates; BIMI adoption is still low, meaning early adopters stand out.

Common mistakes

Attempting BIMI without DMARC enforcement first (it won't work), skipping the VMC and expecting Gmail to show the logo anyway.

Competitive intelligence angle

BIMI adoption is a leading indicator of brand/email program maturity — CompetitorInbox can flag the exact week a tracked competitor turns it on.
